Best Practice – 1.
Title of the Practice: Fostering Art and Creativity for Lifelong Engagement Objective:initiative is a broad concept launched by Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, Government of Gujarat. Sapt-Dhara is a concept which includes seven broad initiatives. In the present scenario it is very important to infuse and instill within the youth the spirit of global competition and to encourage them to display and express their talents to meet challenges of the newer changing order of the world. College has implemented Sapt Dhara Initiative activities in different spheres so that the student can explore their hidden capabilities and potentialities.
College Cultural Cell is functioning with a high goal of elevating student's inherent and innovative talents. One of the college’s special features is its reputed Cultural Cell, with students from various sections having individual talents. The Practice Sapt DharaProgrammes, one of the major highlights of the college, is a weeklong cultural extravaganza consisting of several literary and cultural competitions to foster a healthy sense of competition among the students and provide a platform for their talents to be recognized and appreciated. College conducts Sapt Dhara (Seven Bands) initiative programmes that also sensitize them towards the aesthetics of varied art forms.
Various Department organizes different activities under the aegis of Sapt Dhara Initiative. The seven Dharas-bands and activities are as under;College regularly celebrates Swami Vivekananda Jayanti on 12th January as Yuva Diwas or Gyan Jayanti, elocution competition, quiz, expert lectures, debate, essay competitions, symposia on current issues. Participants and winners are encouraged with felicitation by the college in the Annual Farewell Ceremony.
Under this cluster, college organizes elocution competition, debate, creative writing, and translation workshop among the students. Debate and and elocution competition help to improve their self-confidence, leadership and clarity of thoughts.

BEST PRACTICES – 1: PROMOTING PARTICIPATION OF STUDENTS IN SPORTS
OBJECTIVE:
The college is known for its excellence and dedicated efforts in making sports popular among students since the inception. Undoubtedly sports is always an essential component of a liberal education. Shri B. P. Brahmbhatt Arts and M. H. Guru Commerce College, Unjha is committed to inspire, encourage and empower young students towards sports. Sport provides students not only physical fitness and health but improved mental wellness, teamwork and collaboration, discipline and time management, leadership skills, confidence and self-esteem, gaol setting and perseverance also. Therefore, with this aim in mind, the college coaches many students and is a strong believer in the values and skills which sport can inculcate among the students.
The college has been organising many sports events for last many years. The college has produced many international and national level sports candidates.
CONTEXT:
The Indian sports sector has a socio economic impact contributing to 1% to 5% of national GDP. Sports is not only our extracurricular activity but it boosts the youth and instils pride among them. It is a good tool for community outreach and helps us to facilitate socio – economic development of our nation.
Shri B.P. Brahmbhatt Arts and M.H. Guru Commerce College, Unjha sports expanded its boundaries to international and national level and day by day raising its popularity by producing super heroes in sports like athletics, netball, ball badminton, kabaddi, hockey, wrestling, kho-kho, badminton, cricket, table tennis etc.

Sports has remained one of college’s major fields of achievement. Promotion of sports and games has always been an important aspect at Shri B.P.Brahmbhatt Arts and M.H.Guru Commerce College, Unjha. The young super sportsmen of the college have left no stone unturned in ensuring that they take the pride of the college to greater heights every year. The College has won many medals including gold, silver and bronze in sports. The students have also represented our college at state and national level tournaments.

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED AND RESOURCES REQUIRED:
Funds needed to organize the fall short and we had to manage from the other sources.
Students, in the beginning, feel hesitant to joining sports and were less motivated. However, the coach (Physical Director) personally looked into the activities and convinced for participation and practice. Sometimes it took longer to approve funds for events which was a challenging task to manage the situation.
BEST PRACTICES – 2: SAPTADHARA: ENHANCING EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
OBJECTIVE:
CONTEXT:
The ‘Saptadhara’ initiative in a college refers to a comprehensive program designed to promote the holistic development of students through a wide range of cultural, academic, and extracurricular activities. It is structured focusing on a different aspect of student life and learning.
Encourages academic excellence and intellectual pursuits through seminars, workshops, and discussions.
Fosters creativity in writing, painting, and other forms of artistic expression.
Promotes fine arts, including drawing, sculpture, and craft, allowing students to explore and showcase their artistic talents.
Provides a platform for students interested in drama and theatre, enabling them to develop their acting and stagecraft skills.
Encourages participation in music and dance, nurturing musical abilities and appreciation for various dance forms.
Focuses on physical well-being through yoga, sports, and fitness activities.
Engages students in community service and social work, instilling a sense of social responsibility and empathy.
In the college setting, ‘Saptadhara’ aims to provide students with opportunities to engage in activities of their choice and interest, creating a confluence of academic and extracurricular pursuits.
PRACTICE:
Organizing events under ‘Saptadhara’ involves a dynamic approach to education, where students engage in a spectrum of activities from knowledge bands to creative expressions. While organizing events, initially, students were hesitant to participate and remained absent. However, continuous counselling and in-class guidance from the faculties encouraged them to step in and perform. Following events were organized during the year:

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED AND RESOURCES REQUIRED:
Generally, the events organized were all successfully carried out. However, hectic schedules during the college hours create challenges of coordination among the faculties and students. Another challenge that comes forth is limited funding for the events as there are many other events and activities ongoing along with Spatadhara in the college. So, Essential resources needed include adequate financial support to cover various expenses and a robust planning committee to oversee the seamless execution of the diverse range of events under the Saptadhara initiative.
Best Practice-I
It is generally observed that students are not conscious about their career and placement during their graduation or even during Post-Graduation studies. They start thinking seriously about it only after the completion of their studies. They spend more two or three years in finding jobs and suitable career options. Sometimes they have to complete other substitute degree or certificate courses to secure a job which also takes time of a year or two. With an aim to prepare the students for future competitive world, college decided to organize a placement fair which will be a useful and effective platform for the students to know the challenging of placement and career opportunities. To provide a clear understanding of the recruitment process and career, the Placement Fair will be a better medium through which the students can get a real picture of the competitive world during their studies.
It was decided that institute will organize District Level Mega Job Fair in association with the District Employment Exchange office, Mehsana. College UDISHA Club and Placement Cell were given the responsibility to organize this event on 26th June, 2018.
College Placement Cell initiated a wide publicity campaign to spread the information of the placement fair. District Employment Exchange Office also made contact with the students registered by them through their office at Mehsana. Employment Officer Shri A.L.Desai and Shri Maheshbhai T. Patel, Inspector, Employment Exchange, Mehsana, Dr. B. J. Prajapati, Hon.Vice-Chancellor, HNGU, Shri K.I.Patel, President, Shri Unjha Education Board, Shri H.K.Patel, Collector, Mehsana District and other dignitaries remained present with their staff. College staff members has made all the arrangement regarding the registration, sitting arrangement, interview rooms, waiting rooms, registers and other necessary documents. Executive managers, managers of 51 companies were remained present. Around 2318 students had submitted their online registration forms and 1800 students were remained present for the final interview process for 1946 vacancies. Finally, 998 students got selected for the various jobs and received primary confirmation from the companies and firms.
Dr.A.S.Jadav and Dr. J.B.Rathava and their team were available round the clock with contact numbers and sitting arrangement map in command area. They guided the students in different rooms for personal interview. Students enthusiastically participated in the process. Students who cannot able participate in the fair were also there to observe the selection process.


Best Practice-II
In the modern age of urbanization, industrialization and Westernization, the simple life has become complex, hectic and polluted. Children as well as youngsters have become addicted to western life-style, excessive use of mobile phones, junk food and hectic life-style. They have become victim of unhealthy life-style and unknown diseases. They are suffering from stress, loneliness, anxiety, identity disorder, suicidal tendency and negativity in life.
In this context, this Yoga Training Workshop will be a very crucial and important way to lead the generation towards a healthy and pleasant life-style. By practicing Yoga in their day-to-day life students will not only uplift their living but also able to discard unhealthy habits. In this way, through this workshop students as well as people will become aware about the benefits of Yoga and its healthy effects.
Our college expressed its willingness to host the workshop to the University authorities in General Meeting of the University. Subsequently, it was decided by the University that University level Yoga Training Workshop will be held from 03 to 05 January, 2019 in our campus in association with Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. College N.S.S. Unit took the responsibility to organize the workshop.
College circulated invitation cards to all the University affiliated college and invited them in the workshop. University also issued a circular to all the colleges to send 02 students from their respective college in the workshop. Inaugural function was organized in the college seminar hall were all the dignitaries were present. The dignitaries who remained present were:

The workshop continued for three days and total 78 students from different college participated in it. During these three days, different subject experts and Yoga teachers trained the trainees. They taught them different aasanas, suryanamskar, breathing exercises, foot reflexology, mind control techniques, meditation and other Yogic exercises.

Under this cluster, college organizes drawing competitions, sculpture, clay-modeling, etc. The activities also aim to make the students aware about the employability and self-sufficiency of their respective creative ability.
Under this cluster, college oraganizes drama competitions, mime, one or two-act plays, visit of theatre groups or film actors. Student learns self-expression and acceptance of various emotion/bhavas.
Activities like poetry recitation, music competitions, Talent Hunt Programmes, dance competitions, Garaba and classical dance competitions were organized by the college students.
College possesses a Yoga Centre and conducts Yoga sessions at regular intervals. College organized World Yoga Day and hosted University Level Yoga Workshop. College organizes Inter-Class Sports Tournaments and hosts University level sports and athletic competitions. College sports department is also equipped with Indoor Sports complex and auditorium, sports ground, multi-purpose Gym and wellness centre.
It is the moral responsibility of the college to make students aware about the realities of villages and contribute in the development of villages. Our aim is to maximize students’ participation in activities under this cluster. College N.S.S. Unit and N.C.C. Unit organizes community and social services activities at large scale in every academic year.

In the modern age of urbanization, industrialization and Westernization, the simple life has become complex, hectic and polluted. Children as well as youngsters have become addicted to western life-style, excessive use of mobile phones, junk food and hectic life-style. They have become victim of unhealthy life-style and unknown diseases. They are suffering from stress, loneliness, anxiety, identity disorder, suicidal tendency and negativity in life.
In this context, this Yoga Training Workshop will be a very crucial and important way to lead the generation towards a healthy and pleasant life-style. By practicing Yoga in their day-to-day life students will not only uplift their living but also able to discard unhealthy habits. In this way, through this workshop students as well as people will become aware about the benefits of Yoga and its healthy effects.
Our college expressed its willingness to host the workshop to the University authorities in General Meeting of the University. Subsequently, it was decided by the University that University level Yoga Training Workshop will be held from 03 to 05 January, 2019 in our campus in association with Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. College N.S.S. Unit took the responsibility to organize the workshop.
College circulated invitation cards to all the University affiliated college and invited them in the workshop. University also issued a circular to all the colleges to send 02 students from their respective college in the workshop. Inaugural function was organized in the college seminar hall were all the dignitaries were present. The dignitaries who remained present were:

The workshop continued for three days and total 78 students from different college participated in it. During these three days, different subject experts and Yoga teachers trained the trainees. They taught them different aasanas, suryanamskar, breathing exercises, foot reflexology, mind control techniques, meditation and other Yogic exercises.
