According to the directions of the Supreme Court of India and instructions from University Grants Commission in the year 2009, College has formed Anti-Ragging Committee in the same year. Shri B.P.B.Arts and M.H.G.Commerce College, Unjha is proud of the fact that the institute aims at maintaining healthy and stress-free college campus. College firmly believes that ragging in unlawful, illegal and anti-social activity. These kind of ragging acts are punishable acts. Ragging is banned by the Supreme Court of India from all the educational institutes so it is advisable for the students that no one can indulge himself/herself in these kind of activities.
The Supreme Court defined ragging in the Vishwa Jagriti matter (1999) as, “Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or per form something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.” ( Raghavan Committee Report, 2007, para. 3.19).
According to the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Institutions, 2009, ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
As per the UGC vide its letter No. F.l-16/2007 (ccp-IID dated June 17, 2009 has reiterated ban on ragging. Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the college, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging at the institution level shall be any one or any combination of the following:
